Do you want to create a world as rich and detailed as those of
Alan Dean Foster, Ursula LeGuin or J.K. Rowling?

Then get the necessary basics of ecology in an easy to comprehend overview in:

The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Mother Nature

Mother Nature’s ways are always complex and often confusing. And although all of us are part of the environment, interacting with it daily, few know the true extent of the interwoven connections. If you want to write novels with backgrounds that are just as 3dimensional as your characters you should start exploring Nature with this comprehensible overview.

Here's why:

Many genre writers do not give a second thought to the ecology of their novel. After all they are living in an ecosystem themselves. They think they know enough if only they get the culture of their characters right. Do you want to know more than they do?

Fantasy writers create amazing worlds of great detail that often enough seem to be detached from the every day experiences of their characters. Do you want to avoid this mistake?

Writers and readers of Science Fiction know much about physics and astrophysics but more often than not once their astronauts land their worlds falls flat. Do you want to create ecosystems with aliens that could really have evolved there?

If your answer to any one of these questions is “Yes,”
you need “The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Mother Nature.”

Imagine being able to write novels that will still be there when your name is all but forgotten. Wouldn't that be great?

This book can help you - regardless of the genre you are writing in.

Look at Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who revolutionized mystery-novels by letting Sherlock Holmes use all methods of Science known in his time.
Or take H.G. Wells. Many people have not read his book “The War of the Worlds” but nearly everybody knows that the invincible aliens were defeated -- not by men but by microorganisms.

This brand new e-book will help you

  • finally find the believable twist you need for your plot
  • write rich and detailed backgrounds
  • create scientifically sound ecosystems
  • plan the impact of Nature on your characters
  • discover ideas that are new to your readers
  • understand ecology without needing a university degree

I've written, "The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Mother Nature" to give you a starting point to explore the most multifaceted subject of our world. It can not be explained with one science only. To understand even a small portion of Mother Nature’s secrets you need biology, chemistry, ecology and physics.

This book will provide you with an easy way to understand ecology
without the need to study all those subjects.

I know that the most important part of writing believable background is getting the details right -- and Mother Nature provides an endless stream of details. When I see someone get it wrong in a book, or on TV, or in a movie, it makes me want to bang my head on a wall because I grew up with ecology and I love it.

About Katharina Gerlach:

I was born as the eldest child of a forester and his wife in Germany and grew up with three brothers in the middle of a forest.
After taking my A-levels in Science I studied forestry, a subject with -- at that time -- nearly 50 tests and exams counting towards the degree. Before the intermediate exam I spent one year studying biology and Computer Science in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduation I worked on a forest-simulation computer program in Bayreuth, finishing my education with a PhD in Science.
In Bayreuth, I also started to concentrate on my career as an author. I self-trained with creative writing books from the US (at that time there were none available in German) and managed to get several short stories published.
In 2005 my first historical novel was published by a small publisher in Germany. I translated "Ann Angel's Freedom" and successfully self-published it in the US (The e-book is available in Holly Lisle’s shop).

I know what you need to know to get this right.
